At 13:59hrs the New Castle County 911 Center dispatched Station 15 for a Motor Vehicle Crash with injuries in the area of Route 1 Northbound at Red Lion Creek. Ambulance B-15 and Rescue 15 responded after dispatch and arrived on scene with a single vehicle off the roadway. The vehicle’s engine compartment was engulfed in fire. Rescue 15's crew of 6 under the command of Rescue Lieutenant Sinex quickly extinguished the fire. B-15 transported one person to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. Firefighters were in service for 1 hour. Delaware City Fire Police were forced to close 2 lanes of Route 1 for firefighter safety.
