Sinking Vehicle with Entrapment

At 22:16 hours, Station 15, Marine units 18, 29, Medics 2 & 6, Trooper 4, New Castle County Surface Water and Dive Teams were dispatched for Sinking Vehicle with Entrapment in the 1800 block RIver Road area of Red Lion Creek.

15-8 and ALS-31 arrived on scene at 22:21 hours confirming vehicle in the water with 2 subjects on the roof.  Chief Poppe assumed Delaware City Command and advised the Fireboard of just the 2 occupants and reduced the assignment down to Station 15, Marine Units 18 and 29 with the ALS continue in and cancel all other responding units.

Crews from Special Ops 15 and MRU 18 placed in service 1 blue inflatable zodiac from Special Ops 15 and rescued the 2 subjects from the top of the vehicle.  Crew from MRU 18 made patient contact and removed the subject to land on the other side of Red Lion Creek. 

One patient was transported to CER by A-15 and the other subject refused medical attention.  Scene was place under control at 22:30 hours.

Crews remained on scene until the towing company could removed the vehicle.
