The Officers and Members of the Delaware City Fire Company regretfully announce the passing of Life Member and Past President Walter C. Long who passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016.
Walter joined the Delaware City Fire Company on October 7, 1987. He served as President of the Fire Company from 1989 - 1991. Before joining the Delaware City Fire Company, he was a member of both the Mill Creek and Christiana Fire Companies.
He served as a Representative on the New Castle County Fire and Ambulance Advisory Board and served as President of the New Castle County Volunteer Firefighters Association in 1986. Once he moved from the area, he continued his membership with Delaware City but also joined the Hockessin Fire Company.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek from 500pm to 700pm.
