Station 15, Station 29(Port Penn)and Station 18(Salem County, N.J.) were dispatched at 08:58hrs for an Animal Rescue in the C and D Canal. Marine Rescue Boat 15-Marine-1 with a crew of 3 members, Rescue LT Josh Sinex, Career Staff Brad Speakman and Firefighter/EMT Dave Carpenter responded and arrived to find a brown lab dog stuck on a mud island in the canal. 15-Marine-1 under the helm of Career Staff Speakman nosed the rescue boat into the area and with assistance from 29-Marine-1(Port Penn) the dog was removed from the canal. The dog was kept warm while crews returned to Station 15. The Lab was then reunited with his owner at the fire station in Delaware City. Rescue Boats and Crews from Station 15 were in service for over 1 hour.
