Sunday, July 24, 2011
At 07:19 hours, station 15 was dispatched for a L3*Residential Fire on Biggs Lane, Gam Crest, South St. Georges.
After dispatch the 911 Center received several calls and a plume of smoke was visible from Cox Neck Road.
15-8C (Johnson) arrived on scene with a 2 story single family dwelling with heavy fire showing.
Initial crews from 15-5, R-15, and L-12 began searches of the residence and placed 3 hand lines in service. As additional units arrived, a water shuttle operation was established due to the long distance from the nearest hydrant.
Tanker 24 operated as the primary water supply along with 29-4 and 15-5 as other engine companies shuttled water. The bulk of the fire was knocked down and searches were negative.
Crews operated on scene for several hours overhauling and extinguishing hot spots inside the structure.
The State Fire Marshal is currently investigating the origin of the fire.
