On April 23, 2024 at 6:42 pm, Delaware City Fire Company was dispatched to assist Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company with a residential fire in the 2300 block of Pleasant Valley Road in Newark. Due to the distance from the closest fire hydrant, a tanker task force was requested by command. The initial water supply required four engines to complete which hampered the initial fire attack. Quint 15 operated as the second due special service, performing their assignments, and located fire in the basement. Three firefighters sustained minor injuries, including one of our own. Our firefighter sustained burns to the arm and was assessed by EMS on scene but declined transport to the hospital. Quint 15 operated for three hours.
