Fireboat 15 Gets New Floating Dock
Sunday, March 16, 2014

On Saturday while 16 of our members completed their Emergency Medical Responder Certification including yours truely, Mike Miklus and Allan MacKenzie removed the damaged dock from 115 Canal Street and extracted it from the water at the Governor Bacon boat ramp.  At 2:30pm Saturday, Brett Neel, Albert Schrack, Bill Sahm, Ed Kalinowski, Andrew Plotts, Bill Kiger and a host of Boy Scouts from Bill's Troop started the construction of the framing of the dock sections.  We worked until 8:30pm on Saturday and resumed on Sunday morning at 9am.  On Sunday, Mick Pollinger, Dave Carpenter, Josh Sinex, Sam Booths, Barb Taylor, Dennis Layton Jr, Bill Sahm, Allan MacKenzie and Brett Neel worked until Dusk on the project.  These monster section of docks are HEAVY!  Should be like standing on the deck of an aircraft carrier in stability.  The project is weeks in the making and is still weeks from completion.  Next is to get them transported down to the canal [branch] and install our new mooring system to the sea wall.  It's always fun taking on a project like this and thanks to all of the members for giving a hand through out the weekend.  Many hands make lite work.
