Coastal Storm gives Station 15 a busy day - New Castle County

A coastal storm on the morning of May 12th kept Marine Units and the NCC Surface Water Team busy. The first alarm of the day was dispatched at 01:24 hours to assist Station 29 with a vessel run aground in the area of Liston Point and Blackbird Creek. 29 Marine 1 arrived in the area at 02:20 hours with the vessel. At 02:37 hours 29 Marine 1 requested for the zodiac units from station 29, 15 and 20 to respond. Both BLS and ALS were dispatched to standby, A-24 and Medic 5C responded. All incoming marine units were advised to respond to Staves Landing Boat Ramp and standby. 15 Marine 1 arrived on scene sometime around 02:45 hours. A Helicopter from the USCG responded from Atlantic City, NJ. 29 Marine 1 placed the situation under control at 04:26 hours. The vessel was left aground as the occupants were safely lifted to land.
During this incident Marine Units from Townsend and Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown were dispatched to assist Station 40 Bowers Fire Company with evacuation of some of the areas in North Bowers. Additional calls for marine resources were called for by the Kent County Communications Center but were already committed in New Castle County.
While units were clearing up from Stave Landing Road, the marine units were requested to assist the Odessa Fire Company with evacuation of Bayview Beach area. Stations 4&24 were dispatched at 04:44 hours for a propane tank leaking that broke free and was leaking. 24-3 arrived on scene at 05:13 hours and requested marine units to respond. Station 15 and 20 marine units responded at 05:16. Bayview Command requested a reverse 911 be completed to advise the residents of Bayview Beach to evacuate.
At 05:43 hours Deputy 15 (Finnegan) requested for the Surface Water Team to be activated and to respond to station 15 and standby for deployment.
12-0, 12 Marine 2, MRU-23, 23 Marine 2, MRU-20 and 8 Rescue Technicians were standing by at Station 15.

All units cleared Bayview Beach at 06:32 hours.
While Station 23 Marine Units were responding to station 15, they were re-directed to assist Stations 4&24 for Stranded Motorist in High Water at Old Corbit Road and Old State Road. A total of 6 people were removed from 2 vehicles to safety.

Units cleared this scene at 07:31 hours.
At 09:08 hours the Station 4&24, Marine units 29, 15 and 1&27 were dispatched once again for Stranded Motorist in High Water at the bridge Front Street/Main Street, Odessa. 15-0 and 15 Marine 2 responded at 09:28 hours and arrived at 09:31 hours and assisted with removing the occupants from the vehicle.

Also during the day, Station 15 responded to 3 additional alarms for wires.
