The Bruce Peachey Memorial Foundation Contribution and NCCVFA Resolution - Station 15

Also at our Company Meeting on January 14th, representatives of The Bruce Peachey Foundation, Cheswold Fire Company Firefighter Josh Dempsey and DSP Officer Charles Dalton presented the Fire Company a $1,000.00 check in the memory of Michelle L. Smith for the Emily A. Burge Trust Fund. Trooper Peachey was who a 23 year veteran of the Delaware State Police. He was wounded in the line of duty and forced to retire due to his injury. At age 49 fought the battle of his life with cancer. PeAcH had stage 4 Aden Carcinoma. It originated in his esophagus / upper stomach junction and had spread. He wanted to bring attention to this type of cancer that is frequently mistaken for heartburn or reflux - often until it is too late. NCCVFA President Lynn Truitt was in attendance and presented the Fire Company with a Resolution from the Association honoring Michelle L. Smith. The original will be presented to her family at our Annual Awards Banquet.
