Serious MVC w/Entrapment - (M29D4) - 4699 Block of Wrangle Hill Road

At 14:50hrs, the Station was dispatched for MVC at Clarks Corner Rd/Wrangle Hill Rd. At 14:52, the Fireboard upgraded the response with an MVC reported with entrapment which also added Medic 6 and Trooper 4 to the response. A-15 & Rescue 15 initially made the response and arrived on scene at 14:59hrs w/Chief Rosseel assuming Wrangle Hill Command. Units arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision with an elderly male heavily entraped in the drivers compartment of a passenger type vehicle and a 2nd patient ambulatory at the scene. At this time B-15 & 15-5 also made the response from the station as Station Fire Police were requested to shut down Wrangle Hill Road between Delaware City & River Rd. Crews from Rescue 15 & 15-5 handled the extrication of the entraped victim which was completed by 15:16hrs. This patient was a trauma alert (then later upgraded to a trauma code) which was handled by A-15 & Medic 6 then flown to Christiana Hospital via Trooper 4. The 2nd patient received a BLS release and was transported to Christiana Hospital via B-15. The roadway was shut down for several hours during clean-up and accident investigation.
