Governor Jack Markell signs into Law Senate Bill #67 - Dover, DE

On Wednesday, June 29th, Governor Jack Markell signed into law Senate Bill #67 that allows the State to erect roadside signs to honor Emergency Personnel killed in the Line of Duty.
Senate Bill #67 was passed unanimously this month by both houses in the General Assembly.
The bill was sponsored by Senator Bruce C. Ennis with additional sponors of Senator David G. Lawson, Representatives Earl G. Jaques and John L. Mitchell. Additional Co-Sponsors of the bill were Senators Brian J. Bushweller, David P. Sokola, Michael S. Katz and Joseph W. Booth, Representatives Rebecca Walker, Teresa Schooley, William J. Carson, E.Bradford Bennett, Gregory F. Lavelle, Gerald W. Hocker, Deborah Hudson, Michael Ramone, David L. Wilson and Daniel B. Short.
Vice Presidents Ed Kalinowski and Mike McMichael and Past President Jasper Lakey along with Michelle Smith's parents Harvey and Joanne Newton and Michelle's daughter Emily Burge were in attendance to see the Governor sign the Bill into Law.
DVFA President Bill Tobin, DVFA Executive Manager Warren Jones and other Delaware Fire Officials as well as family members from Stephanie Callaway and members of Sussex County EMS were in attendance.
Senate Bill #67 allows for the placement of the Memorial Road Signs for both our fallen sister Michelle Smith and also for Sussex County Paramedic Stephanie Callaway and it also authorizes future placement of such signs for emergency personnel killed along roadways in the line of duty.
