On June 4th at 17:27 hours, Station 15, Engine 29, Engine 32, Engine 4, Rescue 24, Ladders 18 and 1 were dispatched for a Residential Structure Fire inthe 1900 Block of Old Kirkwood Road. Special Ops 501 [DuHaddaway] arrived on scene with smoke showing from a window on the C side of the structure.
Quint 15 [Deputy Chief MacKenzie] and 15-8 [Chief Poppe] arrived with conditions as reported. Chief Poppe assumed Delaware City Command. Crew from Quint 15 placed one line in service while also hand jacking to the hydrant in front of the residence next door. Crew from Rescue Engine 15 arrived and placed a 2nd line in service. 29-6 started both primary and secondary seraches. Engine 12 after clearing from their own call arrived as the 3rd due engine and put in service to ventilate the roof. Ladder 18 went into service with an additional primary search due ti a neighbor advising of school age child that could possibly be in the residence. Both searches were negative.
Other responding units were advised to stage out and further down Old Kirkwood Road and send their manpower to the scene. Rescue 24 was assigned as the RIT. At 17:57 hours, Command placed the scene under control and started releasing units.
Scene was turned over to the State Fire Marshals Office.
