At 05:06 hours, Station 15 and mutual aid companies were dispatch to a reported Commericail Structure Fire at 1685 River Road. The NCC Fireboard advised a memer of Delaware City was on scene with smoke showing.
Deputy 12, 158-A [Assistant Chief Reeder] and 15-8 [Chief Poppe] arrived with with conditions as reported in a 250 by 75 warehouse with Chief Poppe assuming Delaware City Command. Squad 15 arrived and took side A and stretched a line but was unabl eto reach the seat of the fire. 29-6, Ladder 18 and Tower 12 responded to the C/D side of the warehouse and operated under Deputy 12 and 29-8. Crews from 296 and Engine 12 stretched a 1.75 and 2.00 lines and were able to reach the seat of the fire in the C/D Corner. Crews from Tower 12 and Ladder 18 ventilated the roof. Engien 28 and Rescue 14 which made the on road dispatch assisted in the C/D Conrer. Engine 12 provided a water supply to Squad 15. Crews were met with smoke conditions as the sprinkler system was activated and darkened some of the material that was on fire.
Regional Covers were dispatched and responding when Command requested them into the scene and recover those stations. This brought Engine 16, 21-7 and Squad 23 to the scene and all 3 units were assinged to 29-8 / Deputy 12 in the C/D Corner. Command placed the scene under control at 06:28 hours. Once the smoke cleared several firefighters removed the debris with forklifts to the outside of the building by 08:20 hours. Units started making themselves availalbe at 08:24 hours and the scene was tuurned back over to building owners. The Delaware State Fire Marshals Office [RM-20] is investigating.
