On Wednesday May 17, 2023 at 4:06pm, Good Will Fire Company ambulance B-18 came across a motor vehicle collision with entrapment on Route 1 Southbound on the Roth Bridge which led to Delaware City Fire Company and surrounding companies being dispatched. B-18's crew split, with one crew member providing patient care while the other crew member began extrication with their battery-powered hydraulic rescue tool. Additional resources arrived to find a two-vehicle collision with two patients in the same vehicle, one of which was trapped. Rescue Engine 15 and 29-6 crews completed the extrication and the patient was treated in C-15 before being transferred to Trooper 4 for transport to Christiana Hospital. The second patient was assessed by A-4 and ALS but ultimately declined transport. Assistant Chief Sands had Delaware City Command and Delaware State Police investigated the collision.
