DCFC Adds Ballistic Armor To Apparatus

February 20, 2024

In November, Delaware City Fire Company announced the purchase of specialized trauma kits for each piece of apparatus in order to be better prepared for violence-based responses. Now, thanks to a generous donation from the Delaware City Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, ballistic armor and ballistic helmets have been purchased and placed on each piece of EMS and fire apparatus. In years past, it was unheard of for firefighters, EMT’s, and paramedics to need to wear ballistic armor and ballistic helmets. But as threats continue to change, we need to be prepared to save lives in high risk environments. And while we hope that we never need this equipment, the reality is this is now as much of a part of our equipment as our firefighter helmets and turnout gear. D Shift was kind enough to model the new equipment, and we hope you enjoy the pictures!
