On May 13, 2024 at 11:42 am, just an hour after units had cleared another fire, Odessa Fire Company and surrounding companies were dispatched to the unit block of South Main Street in South St. Georges for a house on fire. Rescue Engine 15, Ambulance A-15, and Chief MacKenzie all responded. Rescue Engine 15 arrived as the first due engine with Engine 12 right behind and the companies deployed two hose lines and began attacking the well advanced fire. RE-15's crew made the second floor prior to the orderly withdrawal being ordered by command. Once the tanker operation had been set up, companies regrouped and again made entry. This was a labor-intensive fire and companies operated for approx. 3 hours. One of our firefighters was assessed on scene by EMS and was transported to Christiana Hospital by A-15 and NCCEMS. The firefighter has since been released and is in good condition.
