July 19, 2024

On Friday July 19 at 22:33, while returning from assisting Wilmington manor fire company on a box alarm in the 3210 grid, Station 15 was alerted for a boat collision in the area of the C&D canal at Reedy Point Bridge. Fire boat 15, A15, and Deputy 15 (Deputy Chief Maxwell) responded along with mutual aid from Port Penn Volunteer Fire Company.

Units found a boat that had struck a pole just off the shore of the C&D canal. The 4 occupants of the boat were on shore and evaluated by EMS with 1 transported. The boat that had taken on water was tied off to the shore and the scene was turned over to DNREC.

Later at 23:28, while returning from the water rescue, units were alerted for a rollover accident on Route 1 Northbound. A15 updated the correct location as Route 1 NB at School House Road, and units made the response to the area of the School House Road overpass. Deputy 15 had Delaware city command and reduced to 15 units. A15 evaluated 1 patient who refused service.
