DCFC makes "Extreme Makeover - Home Edition" - Wilmington, DE

February 23, 2008

On Tuesday, February 5, 2008 ABC’s Ty Pennington woke up two families on Wilmington’s South Clayton Street to announce that their adjoining homes will get an Extreme Makeover this week. During the week, volunteers from Delaware assisted in the makeover. One of those individuals, Sue Sokira was in the right place at right time and was able to be a part of this special event. Sue was able to meet the cast and found out that Designer Paul DiMeo was a volunteer firefighter in his home state. Paul was also going to be celebrating his birthday during his stay in Delaware. Sue who has a heart of gold, asked her firefighting friends for a shirt from each of the Companies to give to Paul for his birthday. We were out of t-shirts but we had sweatshirts in stock and one was given to her for the gift. To our surprise in the News Journal and Delaware Online, a picture of Paul wearing our DCFC sweatshirt was shown. You can imagine that it set off a buzz for our fire company. As the week progressed we received a message from our "Contact Us" on our web site about it. Linda Eklund who made the trip with her daughter and sister had contacted us that she has seen Paul with the sweatshirt on and took some pictures. Linda had been an active EMS member with Aetna back in the 70's and 80's and she is currently a Graphic Artist with the Delaware Fire Service News. Small World! Linda was gracious enough to send up the photos that she took that day. On behalf of the Officers and Members of the Delaware City Fire Company we offer our sincere gratitude to Sue Sokira and Linda Eklund. Our many thanks....
