Assist Station 29 - MVC Subject Trapped - Delaware City Port Penn Road

At 04:50 hours Station 29, Medic 5A, Trooper 4 and Station 15 for 15 Marine 2 were dispatched for a motor vehicle crash with subject trapped off the roadway in water. A produce truck traveling south on Route 9 went off the roadway struck the guardrail and overturned in a marsh area. The driver was able to call 911 on his cell phone and advised the NCC Communications Center that he was on the river side of Route 9 and that is cab was lying in some marsh water. Deputy 29 (Brad Speakman) arrived at 04:55 hours and confirmed heavy entrapment. Special Ops 15 and 15 Marine 2 responded at 04:54 hours with a crew 5 with 4 SRT Members. Rescue 29 and A-29 arrived at 04:57 and 05:01 hours. Rescue 15 responded at 04:59 hours with a crew of 4. Deputy 29 requested for Station 15 Fire Police to shut down Route 9 at Thorntown Road and in Port Penn. Crews from Special Ops 15 and Rescue 15 assisted in extrication of the patient at 05:24 hours. Patient was then transported by A-29 to the landing zone and the patient was transported to CER via Trooper 4. Deputy 29 placed the scene under control at 05:24 hours with Station 15 units clearing at 05:38 hours. Special Thank You to Karen Newman and Tom Riale who provided us the pictures.
