Solar Energy Panel Project - Station 15

July 01, 2008

After more than 2 years of investigating how to help cut costs on our electrical bills the Delaware City Fire Company at our June Meeting accepted a recommendation from our Alternative Energy Committee to install solar energy panels atop of the station. Work has started as of July 1st by KW Solar Solutions in installing 366 Solar Energy Panels atop of the fire station. With the increasing costs of fuel and electricity making it extremely difficult, the Fire Company started investigating ways to cut the cost of our utility bills. The Committee looked at several different ways to help offset the costs including Geothermal Power and Wind Power. The most economical we found was through Solar Panels and decided to go that route. We are hoping and looking at costs savings of close to $1,000 per month if not more. For more information about KS Solar Solutions check them out on their website at www.kwsolarsolutions.com. We will be updating this story as more Solar Panels are installed. Special thanks to Past President Ed Kalinowski who has put a lot of time and effort into this project!
