Another NCC Surface Water Team Activation - (M14D2) - Shellpot Creek - Talleyville

At 15:08 hours, Station 25 (Talleyville), Marine Units 20, 18, Medic 8A, Trooper 4 and the NCC Surface and Dive Teams were dispatched for a reported drowning in the Shellpot Creek. Initial reports were that 2 subjects were in the water with one making it to shore and 1 still in the water unaccounted for. Special Ops 15 with the Surface Water Trailer (SRT-1) responded 15:16 hours with 3 Technicians. SRT-2 (Team Coordinator Netsch) responded at 15:22 hours. Chief 25-8 (Looney) arrived on scene 15:17 hours. 25-8 requested that the next Marine unit to arrive go to the DuPont Experimental Station. At 15:27 hours NCC EMS Assistant Chief Krett (EMS3) advised that the subject went over the falls, appears conscious stranded on a rock 100 yards in the creek. 25-8 cleared Trooper 4 and the Dive Team at 15:41 hours. The patient who made it to shore was treated for an asthmatic problem and refused treatment. Special Ops 15 and SRT-2 arrived at 15:42 hours. The Wilmington Fire Department was also dispatched at 15:17 hours and Battalion 8 (Farren), SB-2, Engine 5, Rescue 1 and Battalion 10 (Jobes) responded. Battalion 8 and Rescue 1 responded to Brandywine Falls Road which was now the best access to the subject. Battalion 8 advised at 15:28 hours that he had a visual on the subject. At 15:53 hours Battalion 8 reported the subject was out of the water. Special Ops 15 cleared the scene at 16:00 hours. A-25 with ALS-21 (Dunn) and EMS-3 transported the subject to AI DuPont Hospital ER. Responding Units: Special Ops 15, Surface Water Trailer (SRT-1), SRT-2 and 5 Surface Water Technicians. A total of 15 members responded.
