Delaware City Fire Company Family Picnic - Valero Picnic Grounds - Delaware City

August 03, 2008

Saturday, August 3rd started out as a rainy day but soon gave way to clear skies for Delaware City Fire Company’s Family Picnic. The picnic was held at Valero’s picnic grounds and was attended by approximately 70 members and guests. An awesome picnic feast was grilled by Dave Jones “Cook One-Five” as well as Bill Poppe “Sous-Chef One-Five” and Brett Neel, as well as by the members that attended as everyone was asked to bring a covered dish. There were many activities for the adults and children to do. The children did the limbo, they played a relay game with water and PVC piping with holes as well as played in the moonbounce that was provided for their fun and enjoyment. The adults had plenty to do also. There was a game that included pantyhose, a grapefruit and a balloon. There were 4 team captained by President Poppe, Chief Rosseel, Ladies Auxiliary Vice President Stewart and Career Staff Sam Boots. Each team consisted of 4 players and the team that completed the relay in the fastest time won – Congratulations to Chief Rosseel’s team for winning. Members of his winning team were: Chief Rosseel, his wife Michelle, Tammy Finnegan and Bill Poppe. Play then moved to the softball field where a few hours were spent playing a fun, family oriented game of softball. Chief Rosseel and President Poppe again captained the teams. After a couple hours of play - President Poppe’s team won, with President Poppe hitting the only over the fence home run for the afternoon. The day ended with a dip in the pool at the home of Ladies Auxiliary Member Christine Reeder. Delaware City Fire Company would like to thank Valero for the use of the picnic grounds and M.O.T. Inflatables for the use of the moonbounce.
