Fatal Boating Accident - Delaware River and C&D Canal

At 03:48 hours, station 15, Marine Units from Salem County Marine 18 (Lower Alloway Creek, NJ) and 29 (Port Penn) were dispatched to a Boating Accident with Injuries in the Delaware River and the C&D Canal. Special Ops 15, 15 Marine 1 and B-15 responded at 03:56 hours. 15 Marine 1 arrived at 04:10 hours with a vessel on the rock jetty on the North side at the mouth of the C&D Canal with 1 person visible. There were 2 occupants in the vessel with one subject being a trauma alert and one a trauma code. At 04:14 hours Medic 6B was dispatched along with ALS-23. Trooper 4 was dispatched at 04:27 hours but was down due to weather. Medic 2B was dispatched at 04:36 hours for the additional patient. A-15 arrived at 04:38 hours at the State Dock. The trauma alert was transported by a USCG vessel to the State Dock were the patient was transported to CER via A-15 and Medic 6B at 04:52 hours. ALS-23 cancelled Medic 2B at 04:52 hours. The second patient was pronounced at the scene and transported to CER via B-15. Scene was turned over to USCG and DNREC at 06:17 hours. Responding Units: A-15, B-15, Special Ops 15, 15 Marine 1, MRU-29, 29 Marine 1, Medic 6B, Medic 2B, ALS-23, Trooper 4, USCG, DNREC and DSP. Total of 10 members responded to the alarm.
