Jake's Hamburger Fund Raiser for the Emily A. Burge Trust Fund - Jake's Hamburgers in the Tri State Area

On Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the regular fire company meeting representatives from Jake’s Hamburgers were in attendance to present to the Fire Company the proceeds from the day long fundraiser from Thursday, January 8th for the Emily A. Burge Trust Fund. Jake’s Hamburgers President John Carter, Jeff Smith, owner of the Claymont Jake’s and Jeff Kucharski, owner of Jake’s Bear Store were in attendance and jointly presented a check of over $8,000.00 from the proceeds of the sales and advised us over $16,000.00 was raised in the “fill the boot” donation for a total of $24,000.00. A standing ovation was given to the representatives of Jake’s Hamburgers. A resolution was presented to the 3 in attendance and one was presented for each of the participating stores. Jeff Smith, owner of the Claymont Jake’s and a member of the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown spearheaded the event. The Officers and Members of the Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary would like to offer a sincere Thank You to Jeff Smith for spearheading this event. And we must also express our over whelming Gratitude and a heartfelt Thank You to the Public. The outpouring of support from up and down the State of Delaware and surrounding States speaks volume for the passion and caring that all of you displayed for this fundraiser. Words cannot describe our emotions during the day of the fundraiser. The text messages, pictures, emails and phone calls we received during the day to advise all of us at Delaware City of the public display of caring left all of us speechless! Please accept our most sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to each and every single one of you who were a part of this day that we will never forget!
