L3*Residential Fire - (69D5) - 799 Block Cox Neck Road

At 12:51 hours, Station 15, Engine and Rescue 29, Engine 3,6,12 and Engine 4/24 were dispatched for a L3*Residential Fire in the 799 Block of Cox Neck Road. Duty Chief Deputy Chief Finnegan (Deputy 15) responded at 12:53 hours followed by 15-7 at 12:54 hours. Deputy Chief Finnegan arrived at 12:56 hours assuming Cox Neck Road Command. 15-7 arrived at 12:57 hours. The crew from 15-7 split up and 2 members checked the fire place on the #1 floor and the other part of the crew checked out the #2 floor. Crew from 15-7 removed the debris that was in the fire place which was old bills / documents the homeowner was burning. Apparently the embers / burning paper lodged up in the top of the chimney and melted the Chimney cover causing it to fall to the ground and start a small fire outside the home and the lattice around the bottom of the house. Crews from 24-3 and Rescue 29 assisted with checking for extension. Command placed the scene under control at 13:20 hours holding 15-7.
