On Friday May 22, 2009 the Delaware City Fire Co. & Volunteer Hose Co. of Middletown (Tower 27) supported Southern Elementary School with an aerial photo of the all the children in school spelling the word HOPE. This is part of the schools 2 month Cancer Awareness and Fundraiser to support the Relay For Life event sponsored by the American Cnacer Society. Southern Elementary is the first school in the Colonial School District to hold such an event. We applaud the school district for reaching out to our children and giving them awareness about this disease. Pictures will be posted as soon as the school approves them to be posted.
