On March 30, 2010, the family of Waldemar Poppe Sr. (Reds) and Delaware City Fire Company celebrated the life of a 58-year active life member. Reds Poppe passed on March 22 at Christiana Hospital. Fire Company members were in attendance Monday evening at Reds' viewing to serve as Honor Guard, as well as the funeral today (Tuesday). Reds was laid to rest in Veterans Cemetery in Bear, where members (along with members of Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown) set up an American flag for the procession to pass under.
