Drive By for Member Kayla Bright

May 03, 2020

Today Staff from Delaware City, Port Penn and Odessa Fire Companies participated in a surprise "Ride By" for member Kayla Bright, who is a Senior at MOT Charter High School.

With the COVID-19 Pandemic cancelling the rest of the school year which includes graduation, the family of Kayla wanted to surprise her with something special.  Kayla joined the Delaware City Fire Company on July 6, 2016 continuing to follow in her Grandfathers [the late President Emeritus Harry Bright] footsteps.

Kayla is a 3 time recipient of our William C. Poppe Sr. Memorial Cadet of the Year and 2 time recipient of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association Chief Gary "Happy Jack" Easton Youth Leadership Award.  She was also recognized last year with the Chiefs Award for taking over our Cadet and New Member Training.

Kayla will be attending the University of Delaware this fall.  We wish her all the best and hope we were able to provide some happiness for her senior year.

Thank you to Chief Frank Schoeffler, Port Penn and Chief Rich Trincia, Odessa for sending appartus to assist us.
