Approximately 0300 on Saturday February 26, 2022, Delaware City Fire Company along with units from Port Penn, Odessa, Christiana, Good Will and Wilmington Manor Fire Companies responded to a report of a house fire at 3 Center Street in St Georges Heights. 15-8 responded, was advised by Fireboard there was a possible entrapment and with additional calls from neighbors, FireBoard upgraded the call. Upon arrival 15-8 advised a single story family dwelling with fire showing from the C-side. NCCPD and 158C were attempting to open the front door. 15-8 took Delaware City Command, advised the front door had been opened. 15-8C and NCCPD removed a resident from just inside the front door, removed the resident to the front lawn and began resuscitative efforts. Squad 15 took first due engine assignment, laying in from the hydrant at Cox Neck Rd and Hybridge ave to the front of the residence. Squad 15 placed a 1 3/4 inch handline in service and entered the residence through the front door. Command requested ALS & BLS to the Alpha side for the resident. Resident was transported to CER by A12, 158C and Medic 2. 29-6 took the second due engine assignment at the hydrant at Cox Neck Rd and Hybridge Ave, crew pulled a second hand line off Squad 15 and went to the C-side for exterior firefighting. Squad 12 took the Third due engine assignment, laying in from the hydrant at DuPont Hwy and Parkway Ave. Squad 12s crew pulled a hand line and advanced into the front door to assist with firefighting. Engine 24 took fourth due engine at the hydrant at DuPont Hwy and Parkway Ave, crew pulled an additional handline off Squad 12 and went to the C-side to assist with exterior extinguishment. Ladder 18 took second due special, assisting with secondary search and going to the roof to open for ventilation. Engine 28 took RIT from the residence driveway. Scene was placed under control at 0357. Units completed overhaul and began clearing as they were made available by command. Units cleared the scene by 0700, turning the scene over to Delaware State Fire Marshall's Office. Cause of the fire is still under investigation.
