At just after 6pm, marine units from
Port Penn Volunteer Fire Company,
Delaware City Fire Company,
Good Will Fire Company,
Holloway Terrace Fire Co.,
Lower Alloways Creek Fire & Rescue, and
Delaware State Police Aviation Section helicopter Trooper 4 were dispatched to the Delaware River in the area of Elsinboro Point for a water rescue. It was reported that a subject in an inflatable inner tube had floated away from shore and the wind and waves were pushing them farther from shore. All agencies were quickly underway and Trooper 4 and Fireboat15 simultaneously located the individual who was being assisted by a Good Samaritan dingy that has launched to assist. The individual was taken on board Fireboat 15 and luckily was in good condition. Amazingly she had floated all the way to Delaware! For those not understanding the geography joke, Delaware technically owns up to the low tide mark on the East side of the Delaware River. In this case she floated about 1/4 mile down the shoreline towards the Salem River. She was returned to the beach area she had floated away from and was reunited with family.
