Accidental Donation Requests From A Neighboring Department

May 21, 2024

Residents of our Fire District,

It has come to our attention that you may have received a mailed donation request from one of our neighboring fire departments.  These mailings were accidentally sent by a 3rd party vendor by Zip Code and not following the actual fire district lines.  Our district includes not just Delaware City (19706) but also St. George’s (19733), portions of Bear (19701), portions of New Castle (19720), and even a small section of Middletown (19709).  If you are unsure if you live within Delaware City Fire Company’s district, a map is attached and you can also find your fire district by typing your address in the New Castle County Parcel Search here: https://www3.newcastlede.gov/parcel/search/.  Listed under “Districts” is your fire/rescue department.

Why Does This Matter?

While we receive funding from a variety of sources, every dollar is important.  We receive State and County appropriations, a small amount of money in impact fees and red light camera fines, bill for EMS services, and still rely on fundraisers and donation drives.  Our next donation drive, a Capital Campaign drive, will be mailed out in June.  In order to provide the highest level of service to you, the citizens we serve, we rely on every revenue stream to maintain our staffing and equipment.  All we ask is that you please verify that you are donating to the correct department in turn.

If you have any questions or need help determining if you live in our fire district, please feel free to call the station any time (302)834-9336.

Thank you,

The Officers and Members of Delaware City Fire Company
