Incident Involving QRS15
DELAWARE CITY, DE – April 27, 2026 – The Delaware City Fire Company regrets to announce that its Quick Response Service unit, QRS-15, is out of service following a mechanical failure that resulted in a fire during a training exercise on Saturday, April 25, 2026, outside the town of Delaware City.
The incident led to the complete destruction of QRS-15. Fortunately, all crew members were unharmed and uninjured, and they successfully salvaged essential equipment from the unit. The fire was swiftly extinguished by Engine 15.
QRS-15 has been towed to a salvage yard for insurance evaluation. This specialized piece of equipment was critical for responding to incidents both on the canal and within town areas requiring access only possible by smaller vehicles.
