At 21:18 hrs on Thursday Night, Stations 1-5 and 4/24 responded to a vehicle accident at the top of the Route 1 Bridge (Roth Bridge) on the North Bound Span. A small box truck lost control and ended up head first into the inside concrete wall of the bridge. Once the driver of the vehicle was extricated from the cab, they were air lifted to Christiana Hospital via Trooper 4. DSP closed the north bound lanes of Rt 1 for the safety of the emergency workers. Some traffic ended up waiting on the bridge until a little bit past 23:00 to get through. The bridge remained closed past 23:30 hrs.
