In Memory of Honorary Member Ruth E. Press

January 18, 2014

On Friday night and Saturday morning the Officers and Members of the Delaware City Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary paid our final respects to Honorary Member Ruth E. Press and her family.

Friday night the Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary stood Honor Guard during the viewing and then along with the Delaware City Refinery Fire Department provide our ladders with a large American Flag at the cemetery.

As a lot of Fire Companies struggle with fund raising efforts, not only in Delaware but across America, any financial assistance you received from members of the community is a blessing.

Mrs. Ruth Press year after year was our biggest financial supporter from within our Community.  It was this type of thoughtfulness and caring that made her stand alone.  She cared about the fire company and we will forever be grateful to her.

She was made an Honorary Member of the fire company on November 18, 1998 and this was presented to her at our Annual Banquet in January 1999.  She was always a fixture at our Banquets after that and was recognized one last time at this year’s Banquet on January 4, 2014, 10 days before her passing.

The Officers and Members of the Delaware City Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary are saddened by her passing and offer our prayers and sympathy to all of her family and friends.
