May 23, 2014

At 12:28 hours, Station 15 and Engine 29 were dispatched for an L2*Outside Gas Tank/Line Leak in the area of 300 Bayard Street, Delaware City.

Rescue 15 responded with a crew of 4 under the command of Assistant Chief Brennan [15-8C].  Rescue 15 arrived and investigated a 2" line break in front of the residence.  Road work was being done and the Construction Crew hit the 2" line.  Command requested DelMarva Gas to respond at 12:35 hours.  29-6 arrived and stood by the hydrant at 4th and Bayard Street.  Rescue 15 placed a hand line in service and established its own water supply at the hydrant at 3rd and Bayard Street.  Crew from Reecue 15 checked one of the residences on Bayards Streets but had negative readings.

DelMarva Gas arrived at 12:53 hours and secured the line and the situation was placed under control at 13:37 hours.  Scene was turned back over to the Construction Company and the residents were allowed to return to the residence.
