Hearts for Heroes 5K

Saturday, February 15th, Mike McMichaels participated in the Hearts for Heroes 5K as part of the Delaware City Fire Company's continuing Community Outreach programs.   The mission of the Hearts for Heroes 5K is to raise awareness for all military members enduring the invisible wounds of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury or Post Concussive Syndrome. Conditions for the walk were difficult as it was snowing, sleeting and 31 degrees and the route had numerous hills making it challenging.  

A statement from Mike "I’m not a hero and my main concern was helping our vets who have PTSD from being deployed for our country. I’m proud to have represented our fire company and all our members who served our country to keep it free, especially “Bill Austin” who is a true hero."
